This church was Consecrated 28th July 1926, replacing the “Iron” Church (Tin Tabernacle) a corrugated iron structure opened in December 1863.
The present church was built on land donated by the then Viscount Downe, financed by fundraising by local parishioners and by generous gifts from benefactors as well as by loans from various sources.
The church is a memorial to local people who died in the First World War.
The building is largely furnished with the work of Robert “Mouseman” Thompson of Kilburn. Thompson also made the Reredos dedicated to the memory of W G A Macmillan of Botton Hall who also lost his life in World War I.
