Christchurch, Westerdale

Christchurch was rebuilt in 1838 in the Gothic style of the day and consists of chancel, nave and west tower, the chancel, however, dating from 1875, in which year the interior was restored and reseated.

The building was again restored and a porch added on the south side of the tower in 1896, and the chancel was renovated in 1911.

Westerdale was formerly a chapelry with parochial rights under Stokesley, but was constituted a distinct parish by an Order in Council in 1858.
